What you can book

What you cannot do

You cannot walk in to see the park, the gardens or the sixteenth-century Mosaic. The official site publishes no public garden access, no visiting hours and no ticket, and until the hotel says otherwise the correct reading is that these are not open to visitors. Every page that tells you to go and see the gardens of Villa d'Este is telling you to do something the owner has not offered.

You cannot use the car park unless you are a guest: the hotel states it is available free of charge for our guests, in those words.

By car from Milan it is the A9 towards Como and Chiasso, exit Como Lago, which is the last exit before the Swiss border, then through the village of Cernobbio; after the narrow road the entrance is on the right. From Lugano it is the A8 and then the A9 towards Como and Chiasso, with the Cernobbio Lago exit on the left about 200 metres past the border. The narrow road is not a detail: this is the shore road, and it is the same one that carries every bus and delivery on the western shore.

By train, services to Milano Centrale stop at Como San Giovanni, and the regional trains from Milano Cadorna run every thirty minutes to Como Lago, which the hotel describes as just a short walk away.
